New organization focuses on teen adventures
(Hendersonville Times-News) Despite living in an area where weekend adventures can easily include climbing, rafting and hiking, Lauren Lampley said it can be hard for young adults to take advantage. Which is why she advocated for bringing Venturing to Henderson County. Venturing is a youth development program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women ages 14 to 20. Venturing forms crews that are youth-led and advised by an adult. It’s up to the youth in the crew to come up with adventure plans and fundraising opportunities. An open house for all interested youths and volunteers will be held at 7 p.m. June 10 at the Henderson County Parks and Recreation Activities and Athletics Building.
