Wisler, Smith, Bothwell win council seats
(Asheville Citizen-Times) Political newcomer Gwen Wisler was the top vote-getter in Tuesday’s Asheville City Council race, which also saw incumbents Cecil Bothwell and Gordon Smith re-elected, according to unofficial results. Wisler received 28 percent of the vote, followed by Smith with 27.4 percent and Bothwell with 25 percent. Mike Lanning had just less than 11 percent and Jonathan Wainscott had 8.1 percent of the vote. Wisler was making her first run for political office. She is the former CEO of Coleman Corp. and the owner of Asheville Profits, a business consulting company where clients pay for the work by donating time to a local nonprofit of the client’s choosing.
