Bigger Barnaroo promises music, fun in Leiecester

(Asheville Citizen Times) The last few months have been tough on Asheville-area festivals, with the demise of Bele Chere, and the Lexington Avenue Arts and Fun Festival and Goombay both scratched for 2013. But young Asheville musician and promoter Andrew Scotchie is greatly expanding his Barnaroo festival, booking bigger name talent and moving to a new spacious location in Leicester. The fall Barnaroo happens Nov. 1-3 at Franny’s Farm, 38 Came Sharp Road, with a lineup that includes Shonna Tucker and Eye Candy, Chuck Brodsky, Mad Tea Party, David Earle and the Plowshares, Woody Wood, Red Honey, young musicians from Asheville Rock Academy and Scotchie’s own band the River Rats. The festival will have an unveiling at a 6 p.m. Sunday fundraising show at Tressa’s, 28 Broadway St.
